My Journey to Full-time Photography and Motherhood

If someone had told me a few years ago that I’d be juggling two kiddos and running a full-time photography business from home, I probably would’ve laughed and said, “No way!” But here we are, Minnesota wedding photographer and mom — and honestly, I’m so thankful for how everything has unfolded.
It’s been a wild, beautiful ride full of late nights, diaper changes, editing marathons, and lots (and lots) of coffee. So I figured it was time to share a little bit of the backstory — how I got here, what pushed me to go all-in on this dream, and why I love doing what I do.
How It All Started
Photography has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. I started out just taking photos for fun, then for friends, then for friends of friends. Before I knew it, I was booking weddings on weekends and squeezing editing in during evenings or nap time.
At first, it was just a side hustle — something I loved doing when I had the time. But deep down, I always dreamed of turning it into something more.
Enter: Motherhood
When our son was born in February 2023, everything shifted. That little boy flipped my world upside down in the best way. I started seeing life through a whole new lens (pun totally intended 😉).
Suddenly, time felt more precious. I knew I didn’t want to miss the little things — the giggles, the cuddles, the chaos. But I also didn’t want to let go of the business I had poured my heart into.
So, I took a leap of faith and went full-time with Kaitlin Rose Photography in February 2024.
And just when I thought life couldn’t get busier… our second baby arrived that December 2025. Yep — two under two, a growing business, and a lot of grace and prayer.
The Real Talk
Running a business while raising littles is no joke. Some days are smooth and full of inspiration. Other days, it’s a miracle if I get through my inbox without someone needing a snack or a snuggle.
But honestly? I wouldn’t trade it.
This life gives me the best of both worlds — I get to be home with my babies and do something I absolutely love. I get to meet amazing couples, tell their stories, and capture moments they’ll hold onto forever.
Why I Do What I Do
Every wedding, every session, every photo has so much heart behind it. I know how fast time flies. I know how important it is to have photos that feel like you — the real, messy, joyful moments.
That’s why I’m not just here to take pretty pictures. I’m here to build relationships, to serve people well, and to create memories you’ll actually want to print and hang on your walls. This is why investing in a great photographer that you get to have capture all of your biggest moments is HUGE.
